Not flowers, but spice marked the air of home—clove and cinnamon rising from a batch of Basler Läckerli, crackling beneath a sugar-glazed crust. Childhood in Switzerland often meant dreaming of distant cities, but the scent of these singular pastries always lingered. Sweet, spiced, stubbornly nostalgic.
